So this is the murder victim on last night’s episode of Southland…
(spoilers, kind of, under the cut- but worth it if you like reading bloggers self deprecate themselves)
And when they found this evidence,
A desktop Mac- that the guy in the background is holding- had been buried, I actually shouted “HOW DARE that murderer BURY that beautiful Mac!” And when they...

Foul Play (Lyrics)
concept cover for ep
So I like this song sketch I wrote so damn much I finished the lyrics before I fell asleep last night, and they seem coherent enough. I’m moving full steam ahead with laying the instrumental part of it down and I’ll probably record the singing at Golden Sound Studio which is shockingly right in my backyard. Anyway, without further ado:
Foul Play V1: If I tell...

C + E Save the Dates
Here is the final Save the Date postcard I came up with for Carly and Ed’s nuptuals to take place at a rustic maryland goat farm - hence Ginge on the back there—he was my favorite amongst the group of goats. (Herd? Gaggle? I’m not sure what you call a group of goats.*)
Much more to come!
*Apparently a group of goats is called a trip. How very WASP-y of them.

Shameless Plug!
The other day I was watching Murder, She Wrote (don’t judge) and I saw Angela Lansbury talking to a character wearing this outfit:
And so, with the help of my Facebook friends, including Bryan Byczek of The Exaltation, Murder, She Wore was born—Where my love of fashion and my keen eye for car wrecks in fabric meet. In fact, I might have just written the tag line.

What Joe Wants | January 2012
Since I hit so many different men’s fashion blogs and art blogs, I end up desiring a lot more than I can afford (and how) so I’ve categorized my 5 biggest wants for the month here, in hopes publicly stating it will somehow lead to their mysterious appearance in my mailbox. Or I could just buy them. Whatever. On to the wants!
1. Quality of Life -Brian Ferry’s first photography...

Collaboration
My friends Carly and Ed are getting married, and as is the custom for close friends and family, I will be doing their invites and other paper goods. They requested that another close friend, and illustrator, Carin Johnson help with the portrait aspect of the process.
Sketch of Joe, 2010
Since our styles are different I wanted to see if the layering effects and such that I use would work with...

Melancholia
Friends who know me know I have… a tendency to exaggerate. But! Let me just say (without exaggeration) that Melancholia is literally one of the most stunning movies I have ever seen in my entire life.
The first 5 minutes in particular. Sort of slow moving paintings, which is a theme (the theme being slow movement, as well as paintings… Bosch-like but don’t quote me on...

And they say: when time began we
were floating orbs of light, sun progeny as souls
yearned to touch, to feel- us free ones willed it so,
and that, my love, became the world we know.

My Beard IS Crazy Delicious
So a couple of years ago, I found myself on my FFFFound! looking for stuff to add to my collection, and I came across this image:
And frankly, it was so delightfully absurd that I could not stop laughing. And my friend Jessie and I quoted it perhaps every two hours for the next two weeks. (“What’s up?” “My beard is crazy delicious.”-“What do you want for...

Here’s your little bit of Sunday wierd… See the screenshot from above? No, that isn’t a scene from True Blood, though it might seem so since that’s Hoyt and Lorena.
This is a clip from a show a couple years ago called Standoff (Ep.4) where they played a bank robbing couple. Is Hollywood that small?
My, my Lorena.
PS: How good is that artist’s resemblance of...

... (That's an ellipsis.)
An ellipsis because for a long time I had no idea what to say. Of course, I thought of posting this:
And titling it My Killing S1 Finale Review.
But— that seemed childish, like my sole tweet on the subject last evening. But then I read most of the other reviews on this wide world web (hoping the answer was in there at first, then realizing no, there isn’t hope, like a child...

WhoDunIt?
I wanted to share my theories on The Killing. In my attempt to get this all on “paper” as it were, I was just going to jot down a few thoughts. Now it’s turned into a full dissertation. :)
My Rosie Larsen Theories
The killer is a woman.
Why do I think so? They’re making it seem like its the only “good” man, Richmond. Well, the idea that Richmond is a...

View from a double edged sword #1
View from a double edged sword #2
This is when I was on my business trip last fall in New York and I stayed at the ultra Ritzy Royalton Hotel. This was the view from my room. I got a song out of my stay as well as these two pretty decent cityscapes.
I stockpile art and never share it for some strange reason. I’m ending that habit.

So, this morning, Good Morning America showed a photo of the Bin Laden blood-soaked-floor-room-scene with no warning, and I’m just remembering, when Adam Lambert kissed another dude, and they did a story on it, they warned beforehand. Aint that somethin’.

When I got my first tattoo, I made a mathematical conclusion that a .625” ring around my arm would look better than a half an inch ring. It’s just what I do. I was thinking lately that my one tattoo is so lonely on my person that I should perhaps get another.
By trade, I’m a graphic designer. I was thinking a few weeks ago “What are my go-to fonts? What are my...

christian louboutin for marlon gobel / ph: neilson barnard, getty images, via 00o00 blog
I decided when I saw the above Christian Louboutin shoes that I wanted something like them in my life. What I don’t have, however, is more than $1,000 for a pair of shoes. So I decided I’m going to “make” a pair of them myself. A time consuming task I tell you.

Oh, For F*cks Sake.
Today, I was looking to get a couple of tees, and I was looking at American Apparel’s site. Right on the front page of their website (I’m not linking it cause that’s probably what they want), this picture, bold and free comes up:
I censored it, of course. I mean, boobs are boobs, who cares? But, this (to me) is trying so hard to be edgy—it reminds me of John Mayer last...
