Words cannot express how excited I am for the visual masterpiece that this movie will be.

Striped stretch jersey dress, my first dress ever! Excitement.

So this is the murder victim on last night’s episode of Southland…
(spoilers, kind of, under the cut- but worth it if you like reading bloggers self deprecate themselves)

When I got my first tattoo, I made a mathematical conclusion that a .625” ring around my arm would look better than a half an inch ring. It’s just what I do. I was thinking lately that my one tattoo is so lonely on my person that I should perhaps get another.

By trade, I’m a graphic designer. I was thinking a few weeks ago “What are my go-to fonts? What are my favorites, trends and other graphic designers be damned?”***
But anyhow, I figured my favorites were:
Whenever I decide which one I’m putting on myself (all in a line or 2 over 2), I’m either going to put it on the inside of my right bicep or the inside of my right forearm. It’ll be my birthday present to myself.
Examples:

Can’t effin’ wait.
***Disclaimer: I Love a lot of those “overused fonts” and I respect the history of Helvetica as a font, but think we should just be friends.

I know that technically, this is lightning snow, but you can’t really illustrate sound. N-E-Who, these are desktop-able, so, download here if youd like:
Enjoy your snowy weekends! I, for one, have to look for my car that I abandoned after a 9+ hour commute home.
So close to being done!
Take a lightbulb, add light, multiply it umpteen times,

add that retro glisten-y lens flare thing that The Price is Right loves, and you get:

All I have left are the letters!

More progress on my Price is Right design. In order to keep the second piece fresh, I decided on making a color story in the same vein but still a little different.
The one on the left is the color story based on the previous Price is Right study. The one on the right is still in the same 70’s game show color story:

But a little different, using other colors in the set. Of course, gold remains a part of both representing the mountains upon mountains of cash and prizes!
Progress.

For the Signalnoise contest I’m doing, I decided on this pair of phrases because they work as one off designs (kind of like this and this) as well as together. More progress as time goes on!
Not to be confused with Conjunction Junction. Fantastic and illustrious design hub Signalnoise is having a contest where you can design your own vintage-inspired poster. As soon as I read the post, I knew what I was going to do.
One of my greatest memories of my time with my Grandmother Ceyenne is those snow days where school would be called off and we would sit in the den and watch tv together.

We would always start with The Price is Right, then proceed to Days of Our Lives, and by the time she got to Guiding Light or One Life to Live I’d stop paying attention and go play outside or something. But, the image of us together is so emblazoned in my mind that when it snows I absolutely have to watch The Price is Right. Weird how the mind works, right?

My very first post on this blog was a study I did for a poster that looked like the set of The Price is Right with it’s original colors. I’ll repost it:

Plinko, the showcase showdown, the wheel, the midwestern housewives with Suzanne Sugarbaker hair, the overwhelming 70’s-ness of the design. God, I love it. I’m thinking of doing something like the study above for it with a play on words. Good times, y’all. I’ll show you as I finally make progress. 10 months after I said I would. :)
ISO50 is having a little contest where they ask designers to re-redesign the Gap logo. In a sleepy 5 minute stupor last night I tried my hand at it. What the hell, right? It might take a little while to show up so check back for newer entries.

I don’t think I ever showed the edit of this one. Well, here it is! Doesn’t he look like an Asian Neil Patrick Harris?
Shameless plug!
Vote for my design to be the single cover on Kyle Andrews’ You Always Make Me Smile page! My entry is the lovely Greek ladies you see above.
What is hopefully amongst the last edits for these illustrations. Home Page and Sub Page Illustration.
